5 Great Features About Selling Digital Goods on Creative Market

If you’ve been following the blog here, you would know that Pixel Oak recently announced that it will also be selling digital products on Creative Market. It’s been a great experience so far and I’d like to highlight some things I really like about this marketplace.

1. Great Commission Rate
Creative Market as far as I can tell has the best commission rate for sellers out of the markets that are currently out there. It also pays the credit card processing fees on it’s side and doesn’t tack this fee to your commission, pretty nice.

2. Flexible Pricing
In contrast to alot of other marketplaces, Creative Market let’s you set your own prices and you can also change them at will. Creating and managing promotions is much simpler and quicker this way.

3. No Exclusivity Lock-In
At Creative Market there is no exclusivity lock-in. Want to publish your items on other markets? No problem, you’re not going to take a hit on your commission. I personally hope this is a policy that will be adopted by other markets in the future, it really makes things simple and easy.

4. Instant Publishing & Editing
Publishing items on Creative Market is an instantaneous process, there’s is no review and approval process. This is really nice for sellers who want to move fast and want to time their releases.

5. Simplicity
Between it’s SimpleLicence and commission rate, Creative Market has opted to make things really simple and understandable for sellers which I believe will be a market differentiator for them. As more and more sellers jump on board I believe this method of working with sellers will be a no-brainer.

If you are thinking about jumping into selling digital design assets I would highly encourage you to check out Creative Market. It’s a young marketplace that has a creative’s first attitude that I believe will set it apart from other sellers.

New Buying Options!

I’ve decided to provide new buying options for all Pixel Oak digital products starting in 2013. This will be an experiment which I hope will have good results. As more digital goods markets bubble up, it’s my intention to maximize the options for buyers and make purchasing Pixel Oak products as easy and comfortable as possible. So starting now you’ll have the following options in terms of buying our products: Gumroad, Creative Market, WrapBootstrap and GraphicRiver. I’ve also updated our previous posts with Gumroad links if you would like purchase directly from Pixel Oak.

Fol.io wants to make it super easy for you to sell your digital goods

Today I found a new entry into the digital goods marketplace, Fol.io. Fol.io’s focus seems to be ease of use. They want to make it super simple for designers to get their goods up online. They provide sellers an app that will run in the menu bar providing the ability to drag and drop marketplace assets. We’ll have to see if this resonates with designers or not, but one potential feature that could be really nice is instant access to sales information. There isn’t much information on their site as they are currently in a private beta, but if you’re curious to you can sign up here.

Creative Market, The Etsy for Digital Goods?

I’ve had my eye on Creative Market a new digital goods marketplace, for a while now and have been eagerly awaiting its launch ever since I caught the link on Twitter. Creative Market is a venture by the same guys who do COLOURlovers a great color community site that has been around for a long time. They’re building what they call a “marketplace for handcrafted, mousemade design content” Currently the only real player in this game is Graphicriver and Themeforest so it will be nice for designers and creatives to have another place to go to sell their content. There’s no information yet on commission rates, etc. but I would be willing to bet they’ll be fair.

If you want to check them out or sign up and you’ll get a $5 credit for using this link. They’re also offering a load of really nice free goods here to promote their upcoming launch.
